Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 5.4 percent in February of 2017, the same as in the previous month. The number of unemployed increased to 489 thousand from 488 thousand in January. Unemployment decreased for men (5.7 percent from a 5.8 percent in the prior month) and women rose to 5 percent (from a 4.9 percent in January). A year earlier, the jobless rate was higher at 6.5 percent. Unemployment Rate in Romania averaged 6.82 percent from 2006 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 8.10 percent in March of 2010 and a record low of 5.40 percent in September of 2008.
